Pueblito and Clouds

A small study of and 18th century ruin in northern New Mexico. Built by native peoples, this stone structure is known as a Pueblito, and probably served as a defensive site and/or outlook. It's placement near the edge of a cliff gives it a dramatic and rather lonely feel, which I tried to express in this painting. It's always a privilege to visit this place, and to imagine the lives that were lived in it.

Mounted in a simple floater frame. Approx. size of the framed piece is 9.5" x 11.5".
